Here is my poachers hand line and pocket fishing kit with some recent pictures of fish caught with it in Mexico .
Please be aware that it is illegal to fish with a hand line in UK ( but definitely not in Mexico !). A poachers hand line is a perfect tool for survival /bushcraft fishing and I have never failed to catch fish when using it . I think in a real time situation I would be able to sustain my dietary needs with fishing ( assuming I am near a water source) .

When I was in the army we used to take the trainees to a site near Ripon and I caught loads of trout with a hand line

I've fished and used a Handline in the UK for decades I do not accept it is "illegal"

I didn't intend this thread to start a debate about the legislation and the rights and wrongs of it , I respect your right to decide whether to follow it or not and would refer you to the Environment Agency website for further guidance around the current legal position

The law forbids fishing without a rod licence. A rod licence allows you to fish with a rod or pole. No exceptions if the bailiff challenges you ..

06.30, you're on holiday lmao nice though, what a way to see the day in, rod in 1 hand tequila in the other ;)

Nice compact kit, I have something similar in mind but it means I have to either find another first aid pouch or buy a fishing specific one ?

You mean freshwater??---don't need a licence for Sea fishing.

Where were you staying.....looks nice
Good little set up too :)

Nice stuff
Out of curiosity: Those EDC-fishinggear-card-thingies, do they really pay off?
I just use regular hooks and such and never owned such a card, would you recommend that? And if so, why?

The card was bought as a gift , I’ve never used it but keep it in the pouch as it fits and might be useful one day !
