Lorraine and I are thinking of joining the National Trust.

There seems to be so much on offer from camping/glamping................... even staying in a Lighthouse :D
Have we any members on here who have joined?

Where have you stayed..........what can you recommend?

First iv herd of it bill. Had a little look there. Plenty of choice for sites  also a couple of sites for back to basics. Could be worth the membership buddy

I used to work for them. It would seem that "times they are a changin'." The National Trust always used to be very difficult about camping and very expensive to rent from.
The do have some fantastic places to visit but I don't often go because so few places are dog friendly these days.

Yet to delve deeper into this regarding costs etc.
We do not have the pleasure and company of a dog now......so that would not be an issue for us personally.

I’ve been a member for years but I live a mile or so from Lyme park where I run, walk with the kids, go sledging and have picnics. We also use the membership for free parking all over Wales and the peaks. I have rented one of there cottages in Cornwall before.

Hi Mark :)

Yes, mate, there seems to be a lot of camping opportunities.........my Queen is not keen on bugs though ......although she did marry me:whistle:
We took the Grandchildren (My boys ) to "Powderham Castle" which is quite close to us and they loved it.
A place I would recommend to anyone visiting the area:thumbsup:

Explore the history of Powderham Castle: The Home of Devon

Would like to have a look at renting a Lighthouse:whistle::D

Hi ystranc.

Lorraine and I both remember that when our own children were very young the prices were out of our reach :(
They probably still are to a lot of young families trying to make ends meet......which is a shame.
I can see their point regards the dog situation and the complications involved...........the thing is its not normally the dogs that are the problem...... it's some/not all.....of the owners handling them!!
That must have been an amazing job you had.

Hi, 38.

I had a look at "Lyme Park" after reading your post.......stunning place mate.
Where in Cornwall did you rent.....and how easy did you find the booking process?
Nothing like a log fire and a glass of beer in the Winter months:thumbsup:

To be honest I can’t remember the booking process, my wife was in charge.

May have been Devon rather than cornwall, I was just the driver.

Also stayed in a number of landmark trust properties which are reasonable off peak and have some stunning options for quirky locations.

Aghh yes, 38........It will be SWMBO doing the booking too.....and like you.....I'm just the pilot.........cant be trusted with anything more :D
"Landmark Trust" I will also have a look at that.............. thank you....quirky is right up our street :)

Both Lorraine and I have milestone birthdays coming up and the kids are asking what we would like as a present........ so we may ask for the membership.
Lifetime membership of course :rofl::rofl:

Nearly fell off my Zimmer when I saw the price :D
