First attempt, more work needed on the bowl but I'm fairly happy with what I've managed to come up with

That's lovely looking mate, well done.
Thanks Andy I'm still trying to get my head round a post I read somewhere where a bloke reckoned it only took him 45 minutes to make his first kuksa. It was one of those things called instructables

Some feel the need to 'leave their mark', I've read bothy books where the pissing competitions on how long it took to walk in ended up at ridiculous levels, one guy says the took (for example) 3 hours to walk in, the times get whittled down to 'bionic man' times. If you're happy with what you've got and how you got there then that's good enough mate.

I'm happy with all my woodworking projects so far and to be honest fair criticism is always welcomed but on the whole I do things to please me

 well done Joe looks good auld yin.....was looking at a set of tools on Amazon, just don't know if I have the patience....and eyesight:alert:
Until Wendy bought me my set I never thought I would ever attempt something like this but eventually its coming good forest. Get your self a set,the biggest thing is to keep them sharp. My fingers also recommend getting a carving glove

At re-enactments i portray a medieval carpenter and have several pieces of furniture including some carved stuff. I'm often asked " how long does it take to make" . I'm always polite and engage in conversation but at the back of my mind i want to answer. " an f*ing lot quicker if i didn't have to stop to answer this question" . But at the end of the day it really doesn't matter how long it takes , we're doing it for ourselves not on a production line.

Made a lovely job of that Joe......the mutts mate
Are you going to oil it?
Because it's only going to be a display piece for mother in law Bill it going to be sitting in a tin of wood preservative for 48 hours which will also turn it a pale green colour
