I'm not familar with St Cuthberts Pathway, is it fairly level walking or hilly/rough going? 62 lbs plus, that's a fair weight even over easy ground, so hat's off to you carrying that weight. Look forward to your trip report and photos.

Its a mix of hills (definately not mountains), riverside paths, boggy ground, along the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland national parks. Last bit over the sand causeway.

Thanks for that, I've walked the Cheviots and around Kielder, should be an interesting trek..

I did a charity walk west to east full length of Hadrians wall Nearly killed me as i did it in 3 days like a fool. Cumbrian bit was flat and i made good miles on day 1 bit no wall to talk of :/ then the hills start into Northumberland. Some stunning scenery but geez hard work over them there hills and Roman steps. I was pushing pushing to make the miles.
Last day was somewhat long and takes you into Newcastle along the Tyne to Wallsend but nothing to talk of roman so it was just a mind numbing slog. Went to my mothers in Newcastle and slept for 14 hours when i finished lol
My advice is don't try it in 3 days.
Don't do it in January :/ its scary in the snow, wind, rain and winter daylight hours.
Have very good maps including the villages as the signage is poo

I was on a course at Otterburn but based at Ponteland a long time ago, and managed during some time off to walk a section of the wall. Drove out to Haltwhistle and went to a museum nearby, then walked East along the Wall to see the Mile Castles and Fort at Housesteads. Spring time and lovely weather.
