Wood carving tools.

Just thinking a bit more about this woodcarving.

Roughing out the blank is bloody hard work using just the knives and chisels.......and a potential accident waiting to happen because of the effort needed to remove the waste.......I was lucky this session.......even wearing a glove.
When I still had the man cave shed there was a vice in there that would help.
Bought and tried a small hand held fret saw.....but its not ideal either.......trying to keep the cuts square and even to the project.

Might look out for a used or cheapish...... table top bandsaw for roughing out 🤔

We shall see :)

Just get yourself a little hand jigsaw Bill, even something like roughing out can be ruined by one false move with a band saw

I do have a Jig saw Joe and although the foot offers some stability I need a larger table for the more intricate cuts on smaller 2x2 wood......so able to hold flat for more cut control........if you get what I mean? :)

And heres poor me having to make do with a workmate and a few clamps :sad: Incidentally mate a couple of wood rasps and a round surform rasp are perfectly acceptable in wood carving circles

What about the parkside band saw bill ? It shouldn’t take up much room👍🏻

Yes mate........I have been looking at few.........mainly the table top versions............nothing special......... its only for hobby work after all.
Be handy for spoon and spatch blanks too.

@Ark79

Ah even better bill 👍🏻 Won’t take up much room and you can pack it away 👍🏻. Price is fair also 😁
