Fire rope from a wood burner also works well, after seeing the first one I thought I'd give it a blast using a tuna tin for the base and a bean can for the upper....it works alright but a little experimentation may yield a slightly more fuel efficient combination of cans. I fed mine with meths and it seemed a little thirsty.

There is an art to the fuel consumption apparently …. Hence the use of a cat food tin and a tomato purée tin with a 1inch height on the tomato tin …. I still haven’t done any timed burn tests on the ones I’ve made …. Hiram cook on YouTube was the fancee feast guru and if it’s good enough for @Bopdude its good enough for me 😂

How have you been cutting the cans down? I used a hacksaw to cut it and a file to clean up the sharp edges...the height of the bean can above the tuna can would be about an inch (by pure chance) the fire rope that I used as a wick was unbraided so that it could be twisted tighter or looser to fit the gap.

I use a dremmel …. Different heights give a different spread of flame that would suit bigger pots … I saw one on YouTube where the guy used a paper towel as the wick 🤔 worked fine but clearly didn’t have the durability of plumbers mat or fire rope .
