Put this thread in this section as I was making it myself lol
For a while now I’ve been mulling the idea of a workshop and pub for the back garden so I started to price the material’s, sheet the price’s have shot up £40 for a sheet of ply , osb has double in price 🫣 extortion!!! So now it’s a two part project rather than one big build, I need a larger shed first so I’m of out on Saturday to see a second hand shed , 12x8 … should be plenty of room and if the seller’s description of it is accurate Then I’ll buy it …. Managed to haggle the price down so it’s way cheaper than building one, bit of a fixer upper but that’s part of the fun…

Did a fence job 2 years back, one length of feather edge 79 p. Last week in SELCO the same was £4.27.

Workshop Mark?

Has to be bill, Sharon insisted on me getting one lol am sure the right words was ,, can you get all your bloody stuff out my kitchen, and the boy said the same because I was using his computer desk as a tooling station lol .. would also like to mess about more with knife making and my shed doesn’t cut it at the moment, would also work as an office once I’ve insulated and boarded the inside

Poor Sharon ....fancy messing up her Engine room......best you get that shed up quickly Mark 😇

A new man cave to nestle into........and with permission........perfick 🙂

Look forward to seeing it kitted out

Welcome to my world. 🤣🤣

It's a case of high demand and short supply.
Covid caused and is still causing huge problems in supply chains around the world.
Plus there's currently a big spike in construction around the planet, China has been at it for about 6 years and the price of stuff was on the up pre covid.
People aren't travelling for holidays like they did pre covid and are staying home and improving. I've been turning work away for after Xmas for the last 2 months.
Good birch ply for cabinet making was around £45 a sheet pre covid, now, if you can get it, you're paying over £100 a sheet.
Plus transport costs are up, not only on our roads but container prices have shot up. I know of a fella that used to (pre covid) bulk buy stuff in China and ship it over in containers. They were about £3k a time. Last time he enquired with a shipping agent the same container was £12k if one could be found. He's not doing importation any more.

Fingers crossed we do not get the storms we have seen in the last few years.
Sourcing materials and reliable skilled labour to make repairs could be a huge problem for everyone. :(

Strange really , thousands of acres of woodland get levelled by storms yet we still have a shortage of graded timber. There is no shortage of ungraded, things such as treated fencing stakes even seem to have come down a little. I would heartily recommend going direct to a sawmill and building sheds in ungraded.

Not a bad suggestion, I’m buying some fence post actually and there pretty cheap, 3x3x8’ treated for £8 a pop so it £1 a foot , if I remember correctly the last lot I bought before all this crap was above the £10 mark , I didn’t get much change from £500 for a 8meter fence consisting of panels, posts, creed, and fixings…. Now it’s under £400

Well the deposit was left and now it’s time to get the shed from A to B, it’s built well and no issues with damp or rot , structure is sound … only problem is the base, I’m not sure it’s sound so will probably need rebuilt…. That’s reflected in the final price so all is well 👍🏻 Workshop for me 🤞

Compared to your Sharon.....I'm just a big softie Mark......you need to get on.....apparently she is looking for payback......and going to store the Vax....the hoover.....kitchen ware....in your new Man Cave 🤭🤭🤣
