Well as a mountain leader and rock climbing instructor in the military we always taught the three points of contact. you literally have to have two hand and one foot secure or two feet and one hand secure and you never make the next move until you have a 3 point contactAnyone have any Suggestions on safety course for climbing or tips on safety
Especially learn to tie a prussic knotTake an introduction to climbing course with a qualified SPA instructor .
Get a book on climbing knots , a piece of climbing rope and practice your knots .
We used to use prussic cords for climbing fixed ropes, they are great for tensioning a tarp as you saidJoecole certainly has a valid point there - three points of contact are a must. I also strongly recommend getting professional advise. I never climbed that much and actually am rather afraid of heights (I fell once, left a mark t.b.h.), but I always was happy that there was some professional giving a helping hand - asking for advise of experts won't do no harm.
@ Joe: The prussic knot gets me curious know, we used to use pre-prepared kits (so I never got to make knots while climbing myself). What do you use that for? I use it for tarps and other constructions in need of tension or fixations by friction, but I just cannot picture the use of a prussic for an entire human body at the moment.
