Now the cold spells are pretty much over its time to thin about what you have to get done in the garden and if you have one the greenhouse. I have smoke bombed/fumigated both of my greenhouses and planted up individual biodegradable pots with runner beans. I like biodegradable because when the time comes everything pot and all goes in the ground so as to disturb the roots as little as possible. Bean trenches have been dug and filled with compost and are ready to go. My potato tubers are chitting in of egg trays and this year I'll only be growing first and second earlies. I put about 40 onion sets in a raised bed last October along with garlic cloves and shallots, all are doing well. Onion sets can also go in now.

You are a further south than l am so l will wait another couple of weeks before l get going outside. This year l am trying out "soil blockers" to avoid disturbing roots when replanting.

I totally agree, the less root disturbance the better chance the plant has

@Joecole Hows that gardening coming on Joe??

Past couple of days have been a Godsend for you I expect.......able to get out and crack on
Have you got rid of them pesky pigeons?

So far the gardening is going well Bill, The garlic and onion sets I put in last year are growing well as are the shallots and numerous seeds have been sown in the raised beds and greenhouses. Those pesky flying rats are a nuisance and I'm going to shoot some tomorrow with any luck

Sounds like you are ahead of the game Joe

Good luck culling the Pigeons............let us know how you get on
