So we finally got around to this outing yesterday after two recent postponements but boy was it worth the wait !

Having met Matt at the Dartmoor Diner car park at lunchtime on Saturday I proceeded to follow the Landy up hill & down dale until we reached our destination. (I don't do reversing I said )

We found a really nice sheltered spot beneath an old (Not as old looking as Matt but his paper round was all uphill :D) moorland oak tree & we both got to work on putting up our Dutch Army Ridge Tents complete with our low lying camp beds which fit inside a treat leaving room for a full size British Army Bergen as well.

Once camp was set up the kettle was on & it was time for a well earned brew. We hadn't been sat down for very long when our chat was interrupted by the sound of several jet engines flying right over our pitch.

Naturally I thought that the Russians were coming & I was so pleased that Matt & I had pre-empted the strike by bugging out at the right time. I later found out that divebuddy had paid for the Red Arrows to put on one of their world famous air displays above his house & he had given them our GPS location in order for them to do a fly past on the way. Dick is on first name terms with the Squadron Leader who charges him mates rates & after the obligatory OAP discount has been taken into account they put on their show for next to nothing ! ;)

We then went for a stroll around the moorland that was sadly cut short due to the fact that Matt's wheelchair (He has a bad back the poor lamb) kept getting stuck in the mud due to the fact that he had removed his all-terrain tyres too early in the season !

Back to camp & it was time for some food (Did someone say BACON Dave ? :cool-pig:) so as my buddy was on lighter than light duties I stepped up to the frying pan & cooked up two rounds of bacon butties before reverting back to my other role of mother by making the tea !

We spent a very pleasant evening yapping about anything & everything as us chaps tend to do before retiring for the evening. After one of the least sleep deprived evenings that I have ever had whilst out & about we were both up with the lark & several other birds (No not Samantha Fox & Linda Lusardi). A quick brew before striking camp & then we had a pot of instant porridge each to set us up for the journey home.

We had a cracking time in a really peaceful location & the only people we saw were 3 horse-riders, one mountain-biker, a jogger & 2 or 3 dog-walkers.

A big thank you to Matt who like the trooper he is still found time to come out to play despite being hampered by an old war wound ! :D

Pics to follow I hope ! :)
