Not even slightly bushcrafty but I thought I’d share it anyway. I’ve just finished making this medium sized chefs knife (6 inch cutting edge). It’s my first attempt at this style of knife and it’s destined to become a birthday present for my father in law who likes his cooking. The blade is O1 steel thinned down to roughly 2.5mm and I’ve forced a patina on it in the hopes of providing a little bit of corrosion resistance (the prospective owner isn’t too hot on tool care o_O). I’ve given it a convex edge which wouldn’t be my personal choice in the kitchen but hopefully will give it a more durable edge. The handle is yew with an olive wood bolster and brass pins for added security.
Thanks for looking :)

Another nice knife.........good job
Father in law will appreciate that....and the thought;)

Thanks chaps much appreciated. Unfortunately the prediction of him appreciating it were not quite recognised. The old sod unwrapped the handle, took one look and said “oh a knife” and chucked it in the corner without even unwrapping the rest of it  Oh well at least I know better than being the one that allways leaps to his aid in future (car breakdowns, trees from the garden dropping on the A1 at 11 at night to mention a few recent examples):sad::sad:

Miserable Old Sod as you say @Bionic......................I would have taken it back home :(
If...or when he buys you a present in the future you should do the same to him :thumbsup:
Can't do enough for some people  .................we liked it though mate

Look forward to seeing your next project.
