So guys whats your plans food wise for this trip ...

my plan ....

i will be taking Army rat pack meals (for dinner and tea)
porridge with natural honey /golden syrup for breakfast and supper

needless to say i will be supplementing the meals with pasta or rice as needed

i also plan to do a small food shop in Avimore before we head out to the boonies ...(For fresh produce ) egg,s bacon , and lorne sausage ,bread rolls and a few onions

Brew kit ... will be taking tea, coffee, and hot chocolate ...i will have a carton or two of UHT milk BUT i will be taking dried milk in case we have a major freeze

Not decided yet:cool: possible veg and meat for stew. sausages and taty scones with battered mars bars...also :D porridge as well. Coffee and a hip flask just to supplement the coffee with :D it dose get cold here :) could try my hand at baking bread however the weather will dictate this decision lol.

Thought I would give this thread a bump to see how peoples thoughts are developing as they get their food together for the trip.

Sustaining ourselves is very important given the conditions we could experience but food weight versus decent meals is always an issue.

I am taking mainly rat pack meals (heavy to carry in bulk) to which I will add mash, pasta or rice but whilst looking at some of the alternative freeze-dried stuff I am put off by tales of bland recipes & of course the hefty price tags.

Dehydrating is probably the solution but it looks to be a real faff & is very time consuming & there is the added cost of having the machine running for hours on end.

Any thoughts & ideas welcome as always chaps !

The freeze dried options and dehydrated are OK if you have a plentiful supply of water where or near you camp.
The weight you save by taking freeze dried or dehydrated would be made up again by the amount of water you would need to prepare it I think.

Are you still going to stick by your original list buddy ? :)
