Sorry people been busy

After quite a few pellets is defo firing low and left, watched the zeroing vids on youtube and that is my next job, will over the next few days upload a link for youtube, quite surprised how much denting it has done on one of the targets !!!

Hi Med.

How much shooting experience do you have..........is this your first Air Rifle mate?

My preferred method is to use a bench rest to hold the rifle firmly in place, fire a single round at your target at your preferred zero range (since this is a break barrel you cannot reload without moving it so one round will have to do). Then I simply adjust the windage and elevation screws to put the crosshairs over the point of impact on the target, reload and repeat until it's spot on.
Different Spring powered rifles have different characters and it may be that the point of impact is different when you are actually holding it because of the way the spring makes the rifle jump a little in your hand when you fire.
You can do a little more fine tuning once the rifle settles in a little but the bench rest really does make life much easier and they're really cheap or can be home made.

rifle, probably a bit too much for a beginner but from a "preppers" view i did want someting that can take small game if needed

Don't worry about it being too much, you'll soon get the feel of it. It sounds ideal for bunnies or pigeons, get plenty of practice until you feel confident of making a clean head shot. You're looking to be able to produce 2" groups.
If you get yourself properly sorted out with a permission there will be the pheasant season beginning 1st October.
Something to bear in mind; it is a good idea to learn to dress whatever you kill and do it as soon as possible. Rabbit should be squeezed to empty the bladder and be paunched (gutted) immediately, then skinned as soon as they start to stiffen up. With pheasants, ducks and pigeons I breast them immediately and feed the rest to the dogs or use the carcass as trap bait for foxes and mink. I wish you luck with your practice and hope that your first kill goes smoothly

After a few shots and a bit of tinkering with the scopes zeroing, accuracy went through the roof!! albeit at 32 ft, what sort of distance should I be starting at ??. Am based in France so not sure of hunting laws here, won't be thinking of that for several months just need the practice, have a nice big garden with no neighbors around so practice at a distance is not a problem. when I have all my kit ready I will put some pics on here.

My Weihrauch HW97K .22 is zeroed at 30 metres........(12ftlbs)

(Hoping to add an ATA 12 bore this weekend....maybe.....o_O)

I have no idea about the French hunting laws, I can only suggest looking online or asking for information at the mayors office. My earlier mention of the 1st of October being the start of the pheasant season related only to the UK.

If I remember correctly hunting with air rifles is plain not allowed in France. Daft as you’re allowed rifles we’d need an fac for no problems but all you can do is plink or shoot paper. Just goes to show it’s not just good old Blighty that has a lack of common sense in office o_O

I also seem to remember a conversation about the Netherlands having totally banned hunting with air rifles.
