Yep its called close call for a reason

As most pf you are aware I had a rude awakening last week and am not completely out of the woods yet. What I wasn't aware of until last night is that a close member of our extended family had an even closer call than I did, one and a half minutes to be exact.

So the message is folks no matter how healthy you might think you are (and I only went to the doctors with a sore hip) things might not be what they seem. I always thought I was pretty healthy but in reality I WASN'T . Get to the docs for regular checks especially you older old gits and get checked over. Remember there aint no bushcraft in hell coz all the trees have be burnt. Seriously guys if you haven't already been checked over then get it done

I mostly agree JC, though I suppose it depends on individual circumstances.

When it happened to me (cancer) I knew there was summat badly wrong beforehand, but at the time I was caring for my bed-bound missus and was loathe to admit her to a care home as she needed special care that I knew they couldn't provide. Eventually, I had to see the doctors 'cos the pain was beyond belief and was interfering with my 'quality of care' to my wife.
After admitting her to a care home and then spending two and a half months in hospital (two weeks on the critical list), I got home, but, unfortunately, my poor wife never did - she spent a further three months in the care home and passed away there.

Broke my heart it did and I often wish that I'd died in hospital too.
