Bought a new gun t'other day. Intended to part exchange one of my others, but forgot to take it to Blackpool with me. That's the second time I've done that (or was it the third?).

I did a fair amount of research before making my decision (ie had they got one) and am very pleased with my purchase. Willy Tell reckons that the carbine guns look stunted, but in this case the silencer gives it a balanced look and feel. I don't have much time for all the weights & measures technical stuff that CH, TW, Willy and the others go in for. If it looks good, feels good and enables me to shoot without making me look like a complete knobhead, then I'm happy.:) I've had a good informal plink with it and it seems to work okay.

Cracking rifle Don. Oh by the way, which rifle were you supposed to take to part exchange then eh?:p So the HW100 is it 177, 20, 22 or 25? If you change the old Superdomes you will see that group tighten up too.:p My shooting buddy has the same rifle in 177 and it loves JSB Exacts, if that helps Don. Shoots AA Fields pretty good too.;)

Not bad groups at 40 yards, for a knobhead... :)

Should really be a single hole, of course, but heigh ho, what can you expect from cheap 'n nasty pellets? :p

Knobhead is probably right, I scanned the wrong side of the 25 yards target.
I have two more tins of those freebie pellets to get rid of so thought I'd pump them through before starting testing the remainder of the sample pellets that GDFB gave me. Yesterday was a lovely spring day so I was shooting outside using a wobbly patio table, the fact that I hit the target at all was more good luck than anything. Both those targets had 14 shots through them. My pellet and air consumption is going to rocket. This HW100HK really is a impressive bit of kit (.177 BTW), expensive, but exhumes quality.

I shall probably sell the TX200 once I'm satisfied that I've done as well as I ever will with it. The old HW90 I'll probably pass on to a young relative and the Feinwerkbau will be returned to it's owner. That will leave me with the two PCPs and the little HW30S.
I still have a few left of the sample pellets you kindly sent me to start testing (.177). I'm told it pays to put a couple of tins through a new gun first to settle everything down so I'll get shut of the freebies I've got.
Good to read that you are now able to show your true skill with the TX200, must admit I'm finding it quite a challenge.

Brilliant Dad Don,

What about that pistol grip and thumb hole, lovely to slip your hand into.
Get a single shot loader and you'll not fiddle about with that awkward to fit mag ever again. Lovely little flipper it is.
Pellets seem to be more accurate when loaded one at a time dad.
Side lever is so soft you can sit with your cushion and load up and fire single shot it's just more fun Pa.

Best not sell or give away anything just yet, leave it a week or two and see if you change your mind. The chances are it won't be too long before you start hankering for your TX again.

It's a tremendous Buzz when you get another new gun it's a cardboard disease . Opening up that box those HW100's have such a nice box too. I bet the probe's a bit stiff try not to scratch the orifice, you can put a bit of that white gun grease on, it's makes it slip in much easier, not much mind.!! Forgotten what it's called the grease not any old grease though Dad.

Nice group there. If you have a Black & Decker Workmate or similar, that might be a bit more stable as a shooting platform... :)

You're right Son, the HW100's come in a lovely box. Plenty of writing on the sides to tell people what it is you have. Thought of taking it for a walk around the neighbourhood, then thought better of it. Putting your hand in that pistol grip is a good feel and I think they must have improved on the magazine loading since you last tried one. Nothing awkward about loading the magazine now. Just like putting your money in the slot, come to think of it, it's a lot like putting money in the slot. My pellet usage has taken a sudden increase.
The recharging business is very different from the S400 and a bit easier I would think. However, I do have a newbie question about it. I bought a new stumpy 3ltr bottle so I don't run out when a recharge is require. However, the hose doesn't have a release valve to let the air out of the hose before uncoupling like my old one does. Will this be a problem?

Ok Don,send me that TX200HC,I know you don't have room for it. ;)

Buy some better pellets so you can actually see what that gun is capable of.By the way what caliber is it?

I changed the scope on the TX200 today and had to re-zero it again. Whilst doing so I fell in love with it all over again., so there's still plenty of room for it, sorry. (Re-zeroing is one of my favourite pastimes.)

Generous Granddad sent me large samples of pellet a while back and I have plenty left to test the HW100. But first I'll put the freebies through it I got with the guns to bed everything down.:)

I know, I know. Changing scopes is a great excuse for putting some serious lead down-range...

I have a Workmate in the garage but it's too heavy to lug around. I have a sturdy table when I'm shooting from the house. I'm trying to keep shooting clutter to a minimum, just my shooting stick and picnic stool.
