Hello again everyone, been busy again making shooting related gubbins! :D this time i was inspired by the youtube videos ive been subscribing to by making a squirrel feeding box/shooting platform to put nuts and the like. Flip top lid on a small brass hinge, clear perspex to allow for level check at distance, side rails to prevent feed blowing off too much as well as somewhere for the squizzers to perch prior to slipping off their mortal coil into the dirt below aided by yours truely and my rifle!haha. Again any suggestions are welcome to improve the design.

Nice, from what range are you going to shoot? Squirrels have very fast reflexes, so within reason, the closer the better. They are also very hardy little blighters, so head shot is a must for a quick kill, there was a bloke recently fined a lot of money for wounding one with a body shot, it got away and he posted the video online. Some animal rights group reported him and he got done for cruelty to animals.

Bit of a pillock for posting the video...

Yep!, gues he thought that it was understood that you can't get it right all the time, but it seems that he underestimated the animal rights people and that the law doesn't have grey areas. As far as the law is concerned, its the letter of the law that matters, not what's right!

I counted 32 paces from the feeder to where i plan to stick my hide with some natural cover to hide the err hide a bit better haha.its my usual stalk to point before laying waste to the furry bazzas! N yup headshots are always a winner! But wont be a problem as long as theyre on the ground or at the base of the tree the .22LR will sort em out either that or my Ultra will which ill take with me too :) situation depending :) cant wait to see how they like my feeder as not done this sneaky approach before! :)

Yeah CH the back stop is nice soft grassy ground and behind that is a raised berm about 3-4ft tall :) wont be taking silly shots though only safe ones so if its not the ultra will be on point :)

The Ultra's all you'll need. An air rifle would normally be zeroed at around that range, whereas your ideal zero for 22LR and subsonic ammo would normally be around 18 yards and 65 yards, meaning you'd have to remember to apply 1-1.5 mildots of holdunder at that range... not so intuitive when you need to take a shot quickly.

Plus, the 22LR will vaporise the squirrel's head at that range, so your hunting pics won't be very pretty... View attachment 12704

There is a video you tube of a couple of Americans shooting prairie dogs with some very heavy ammo. Its funny but at the same time unnecessary! They do literally explode.

There's a vid of some redneck shooting a coypu with a .308. He didn't bother trying to pick up the pieces... View attachment 12712
