15 yard range... compare results!!

Here is the card for the bit of pellet testing I did at the range with the TX200HC. By my own standards they're are not great, but that's my own fault. If I want the results, I've got to put the time in, simple as that.

Top row. JSB Jumbo 5.52
2nd row. AA Diabolo Field 5.52
3rd row. AA Diabolo Fields 5.51

I decided to have an impromptu plinking session at home today. God knows I need to put some practice in. The first card was shot with the HW95. 5 shots per target on rows 1 & 2, and as you can see it took me at least 25 shots to get my shit together. I tweaked the zero as I went and finally started to group well by the end of row 2. Rows 3 & 4 were one pellet per target and reasonable results. I also took a little time to play with the trigger on the 95 too, lightened it just to the point where it felt as good as it's ever been.

After a through clean, lube and check over the HW95 made way for the TX200HC. I thought it would be as good a time as any to introduce the TX to the HW Magnums 5.51's I got recently. 5 shots per target, adjusting zero as I went. Barrel finally got used to the HW lead and some reasonable groups towards the end of the session. By the end of my little session I was starting to feel I had reacquainted myself with both springers. I know I need to keep on top of my plinking. Even my PCP shooting wasn't up to it's usual standard and any winker can get good results with that.:( Gonna do it all again at the range on Tuesday.

I've got my crash helmet and body armour on in anticipation of the barrage that's coming my way.:p

Darn. :(

I was looking forward to mentioning "with a banjo", "cow's arse" and "couldn't hit a" in the same sentence... :p

Those later groups/shots with both rifles look nice and tight, GDFB... I think you might just be on the verge of a breakthrough... roll on Tuesday! :)

I forgot to say that the first target, shot at the range, was shot at 25, or was it 30 yards, can't remember now, but 25 yards I think and the 2 targets from today were only at 15 yards. I really need to make more of an effort to keep up with my plinking practice. I can't believe just how rusty I have become.:(

15, 20, 25, 30 or 40 yards, whats'it matter! Prepare for a name change.

Hobbled out to 30 yds and shot HW95L using Air Arms Field Heavies. You'll see a line going across the page which bisects a Z,this is the pattern of shots I made getting it zeroed. It was hitting well off to the right. Once I got it close I fired five pellets into each target. I think it's getting close and with minor adjustment, and better discipline on my part, I should hope to get acceptable groups.

Those central groups look pretty good, TW. :)

Dare I say... progress at last?

I think so,the air arms pellets seem to be suited for this gun,but I practically have to do all the pellet testing over again. I still haven't heard from NS about the scope. Part bad scope, part indifferent mount I think.

Nice groups TW.;) If my experience is anything to go by, continue with that pellet for a few sessions before resuming pellet testing. I made a little progress with the 95 last week, but I'm still not shooting it enough. I'm into my second weeks holiday and only had 2 sessions with the rifles and I had more planned.:( Doesn't look like I'm gonna be getting much shooting this week either.

Start limping a lot, and tell Bev you've pulled a hamstring and need to take it easy. ;)

Now: what can you do to occupy yourself while sitting down...? :p
