Away in the van

Motor homes , camper vans or caravans can give you great freedom not only to see the UK or abroad but for the many other interests you can combine them with as I said previously going to any kind of event is pretty tiring even when your young but as you get older it can be a nightmare in as much as finding somewhere to rest , have proper food or just a tidy hot or cold drink add to that the state of some toilets after standing in a queue in the hot or pouring rain , with a van you don't have to put up with any of it and you can even have a nap .
Steam ,classic and music events are some of my favourites .

Must admit we had some great times when the girls were younger, as we had free loan of my parents caravan when they weren't using it. Sadly we were using it more than my parents, so they decided to sell it. Oh well, all good things come to an end.

Quite right Taff, I'm down in Devon for a few days, keeping on the move. :)

Think about getting yourself one for next year , personally I don't find caravans as free and easy to come and go as camper vans/motorhomes although they still give you loads of freedom , I had my first camper in early 80,s when our kids were young , use to come home on the Friday evening my wife had packed the van and we were away , kids would usually fall asleep on the R&R bed in back ( it was a 1973 VW bay window "Devon conversion" ) we would park up on site in Porthcawl called the "Arena " have stroll round if kids woke then back to the van with chips then off to bed , the warden only worked until 6pm then came to collect again in morning between 8 and 9 am so we would head off down to the seafront car park with kids still in bed to avoid paying  cook fry-up then down on the beach , up to the fair in the afternoon then wander round before going back on site after the warden had done his rounds again , I also find the vans great on a long run as its easier to tuck away in a car park than a car and caravan or if you want a meal on route anywhere .

I'll be going home Sunday, more medical appointments next week :(
GP said last week I have sinus infection so been on antibiotics but my colon playing up (sh*ts for over a week now ) but got a blood test Friday to see whats up , I have diseased colon anyway and had a tumour removed few years back plus my arthritis been playing up bad this year , been sleeping downstairs or in the van when I cant manage .

It's a good job they make 'em tough in Wales, Taff, you've a lot to put up with. Reading that made me feel quite fit and healthy. Clocking up the miles here in Devon, thinking of getting an 'in car' camera fitted to record the places I've been. Haven't enough hands to handle a walking stick, dog lead and camera all at the same time.

Well it looks like you are enjoying your time travelling England's green a pleasant land Don. Your van looks nice a tidy too.;)

Thanks Grandad, the van is just the right size for me. I can park in normal sized car spaces and the inside is so well designed it feels much bigger than it actually is. On the road it cruises along at 70/80 and is very economical. I did the 260 miles to Devon with out stopping and arrived as fresh as a daisy.:)

Don:eek::eek::eek: you're missing the point of having the camper van.:p If that was me I'd have planned 5 stop overs on my way to Devon.:p:p:p All my stop over points would be near a local shooting range and have a pub with great home-cooked grub on the doorstep.:cool:As for driving at 70 & 80mph, I don't anymore, too much fecking hassle and agro. I set the cruise control around the 62-65mph mark, which means nearly everything overtakes me, with the exception of the HGV's and you ain't got all the German car driving winkers right on your bumper, hassling you to get away. I find I get out of the car at my journeys end almost stress free and not needing a couple of double brandy's and a packet of cigarettes to de-stress.:p
