Had an accident...

Interesting start to the day. I went to mates house. He went to mine. Yep. Fooking keystone Kops idiocy.

Then we missed the M5 turning.

But get to SFS we did and they recognised me too which was nice.

Mate shot a 99s .22 and I took up my new baby to the short range.

Firstly I've never shot a 99s and straight from the box, no tuning or anything, really nice to shoot. Mate was hitting the spinners with open sights nicely. Had a little go with the new 80. Think it might shoot nicer than the .20. More later. Anyway mate bought the .22 99s. No scope yet as I said I need to teach him basic stuff first. £250 gun, pellets and gunslip can't be argued with.

Raced home (literally - he drives fast).

In the garden first go with the open sights. Really interesting. Very smooth to shoot. Not too difficult to cock either. One inch groups or there abouts (target pic 2)

Stuck on an ASI Sabre 4x32 I had in the wardrobe and things got very tasty. Top right target was my final go. Yep that's all through the same hole. Unless something bad happens its RWS Superdomes all the way. (target pic 1)

The 80k with open sights is a very well balanced rifle. Probably nicer than with a moderator. Recoil is noticeable but not intrusive. The pellets fly out so quickly though its difficult not to miss really. I'm now giving serious thought to getting Ron done as a stage 2. It's expensive but the results are outstanding.

Had a lot of plinking over the Easter break. Wife cut her finger badly which got infected. Then had a cold. And had to go to A&E too. So lots of time to plink!

Finally getting to grips with the .177 80. Settled on H&N FTT I think.

Attached is 5 shot group at 25m. Fitted with Hawke Vantage 4-12x40 set on 6x. Artillery hold.

Interestingly Superdomes, although accurate, make the rifle kick more. I've now run out of FTT though so will use something else to get me by.

Nice shootin', Tex! :alert: How blue did the air turn when that flyer popped up?:crying:

Bluddy German pellets... Very annoying but its still only about 1cm off the others. Can't really argue with that!

Did also shoot this 5 shot string with Ron (HW80 .22 -scope on 4.5x and in artillery) using RWS Superdomes. The difference between the guns is amazing. The .22 version is so sedate where as the .177 is like a fire cracker.
