So I now have the SMK TH78D .22 which I have already fallen for big time, the sound of that bolt is fantastic and the thumb hole stock lovely to use.
However after an hour playing about, two things are obvious for myself using it
1) I will never be able to use the Co2 tube cap as it stands without either using gas pliers/rag which I don't much fancy ......... Or I need a replacement cap which has holes drilled in the sides so that I can use a small rod or Allen Key ... That would enable me to close the cap down and pierce the Co2 bulbs. Anyone use a modified cap? Know where it is best to buy one? If I have confused anyone see the pic below.
As a matter of interest regarding the Co2 bulbs, can I use the one Co2 bulb at a time? ..... I've seen this on a video on You Tube but who knows which one! ..... Where does one put the full one, does it go in first or second? Indeed does that make any difference whether it is first or second and does it work with the one bulb? I'd assume it simply gives less shots as the pressure will not differ.
2) My ability to load single pellets is akin to a very drunk man trying to please his wife ... To load a pellet for myself with my dodgy paws, is indeed much like trying to force a marshmallow into a collecting tin ... I drop the pellets, get them the wrong way around and even managed to jam one upright in the breech ... So I need a manual feed magazine; obviously.
On Ebay there are numerable offerings all the same it appears, with differing prices ... about £12 is the average .... Now I am assuming that pic A below is for some other rifle and that pic B is what I require... Does anyone have one? Does it come with a plate so you can remove the mag to load it? With these B mags, does one remove the magazine to fill it or is it done in situ? Are they even worth £12? Or are they just cheap and nasty tat?
Then we have pic C, the no doubt beautifully made Rowan Engineering example weighing in at a frankly shocking c.£63, considering it is for a £169 rifle ..... This one can seemingly be removed as it has the plate affair and one can buy further mags without the plate at a mere £45'ish .... Has anyone got one of these? Does it work amazingly well .... Is it really 5x's better than the £12 EBay junk?
Any and all help gratefully received! Thank you in advance.
