Casstrom: Joker No. 74 Folding Knife

Casstrom: Joker No. 74 Folding Knife

The Joker No 74 Folding Knife forms part of Casstroms' "Continental" range and is a useful and attractive pocket knife.

It has a satin-finished 2mm thick carbon (or stainless steel as the No 77) 7cm drop point (almost spear point) flat ground, 1.75cm wide blade with a secondary bevel, that comes razor sharp. There is 0.75cm deep ricasso that incorporates the kick but there is no nail notch.

However, there is plenty of blade to grip in order to open the knife. The 9cm long handle is made of olivewood with steel liners and brass pins, and a steel and brass pivot. The knife measures approx 16cm open, 9cm closed. This not a locking knife but the tension in the steel back spring is strong, the action crisp and the blade sits firmly open or closed.

The fit and finish on the knife is all to a good standard and the wood comes with an almost matt finish, oiled but not over polished, an unusual but very attractive look. The shape of the handle makes it very comfortable to use, and, as it is a "sub-3" non locking knife, it is one you can carry every day without incurring legal wrath!

The Joker No 74 folding pocket knife costs around £20 and is made in Spain. The review sample was supplied by Casstrom and should be widely available.
