The new "Hunter's Boot" from Jack Pyke is a tough and comfortable boot that should prove ideal for many a hunter's needs.

Made from full-grain leather, the uppers feature a high leg with a soft, padded, cuff and a "flex notch" in the back to allow for ease of movement.

This rear flex notch is matched by one each side of the tongue to provide a comfortable and natural ankle flexion, but with lateral support from the leg of the boot. Right around the boot there is a deep rubber rand, which is highest over the heel cup, to protect the leather no matter how rough the terrain.

The padded leather tongue is of a bellows type to keep out water and debris, and is crossed by the laces that go through four pairs of articulated closed lace rings and 4 pairs of speed hooks, the lowest hooks being set back to help pull your heel into the boot's heel cup for stability and comfort.

In the centre of the tongue is a lone lace hook that stabilises and centralises the tongue. The boots are lined with 200g m/s Thinsulate insulation and feature a fully waterproof and breathable "Hydroguard" membrane to keep feet dry and comfortable.

To promote healthy feet (and to reduce foot odour) the boots have an "Agion" silver-based anti-microbal treatment. There is, of course, a removable moulded footbed for support and comfort.

The Hunter's Boots are lasted on a curve to give "rocker" to the boots and this, combined with a moderate sole flex, allow you to maintain a natural rolling gait while still having support for your foot.

The outer sole is a branded Vibram Trek rubber unit with an effective lug pattern that gives excellent traction on nearly all terrain, and does not clog too easily.

All this adds up to the Hunters Boots proving very comfortable and supporting during the whole of the testing Ihave put them through. They proved comfortable from the moment I put them on and have performed well in all conditions from mud and marsh to quite rocky terrain – with both light and quite stupidly heavy loads –as well as just gentle bimbling.

The look of the boots has drawn admiring comments, which I truly think they deserve!

Available in sizes 6-12 in brown only, the Jack Pyke Hunters Boots cost around £120.00 and come with a 12-month guarantee.
