The history of our business starts in the middle of the 19th century and is affected by great names, enjoying the world's fame in the domain of weapons' technology: Founder of the business and pioneer concerning weapons’ technology Josef Werndl, the weapons'-"engineers" Ferdinand Ritter von Mannlicher and Otto Schönauer - recognized experts, daunting for all shooters: Synonyms for technical innovation and highest quality.
Up to 2001, the sport weapons' department was a section of Steyr Mannlicher. Then due to restructuring and privatization - a new business developed: STEYR SPORTWAFFEN GmbH.
New building 2006
In autumn 2006, the move into ultra-modern, new premises took place - with the very suitable address Olympiastraße 1. A new milestone has been set in the history of our company. We had more than 200 guests celebrating with us on Friday, 13th of October 2006 at our Open House Party.
Manufacturing
Construction, development and technical production of sport weapons is more to us than just a job - in fact it is a passion for every one of us. We are not interested in the product itself, but in the sport in general. Be it at a field target event outdoors - actively as a shooter or (just as active) as an adviser and partner of service for all competitors - people from STEYR are not only producing the devices for shooting, they live within the sport as well!
That's where our philosophy of the "STEYR Manufacture" comes from. In every single weapon you find the spirit and the energy of our employees, who build it personally. The assembling of an air-rifle or an air-pistol has its very own magic, even a sensual aspect. With knowing, sensitive hands a high-class piece of sports equipment is built part by part, screw by screw, touch by touch, which will provide the future owner and shooter with everything necessary for big success, whether it is a personal best or a world record!
