Wenger Swiss Military Field Classic Watch

Wenger Swiss Military Field Classic Watch

What is Switzerland famous for? Chocolate, Swiss Army Knives and quality watches (cuckoo clocks are from Germany no matter what the Third Man said!) are the main products the Swiss are famous for and although I have eaten chocolate Swiss Army Knives, I have recently been testing part of the range of watches available from Wenger, the makers of the Genuine Swiss Army Knives.

Made with a stainless steel case and a mineral "crystal" that incorporates a magnifying lens over the date window and a Swiss Quartz movement, the Wenger Swiss Military Field Classic Watch is water resistant to 100m (my body isn’t so I have not tested this fully!) and has an analogue face (available in black or cream).

The hours are marked in standard numerals in glow-in-the-dark pale green with black outlines in a standard 1-12 (with small black numerals for the 24 hour readings) except at the "12" position which is marked with the Swiss flag Wenger logo and at "3", where the date window is. The minute and hour hands are glow-in-the-dark like the 1-12 numerals, while the second hand is red.

The 20mm lugs support a nylon webbing and leather-look strap with a logo marked stainless steel prong buckle.

The watch is clear to read, day or night, thanks to the bright glowing hands and numerals, and the watch has proved comfortable and good looking as well as watertight under normal wet usage.

With classic good looks combined with Swiss quality construction, the Wenger Swiss Military Field Classic Watch is as functional as it is good looking, costs around £89.95 and comes with a smart steel presentation tin, full instructions and a 3-year guarantee.
