God I love charity shops...
 
I also love old maps out of historical interest but you can no longer trust them, bear in mind David that if they're even just a bit out of date a whole lot of landscape will have changed. The offset for a compass will be inaccurate. New forests appearing and old forests gone leaving nothing but rows of brash and some confused wildlife.
Country hamlets and Chapels converted to Airbnb holiday lets. Public phone boxes and country pubs disappeared without trace while new roads have carved their way through everything.
The countryside is much more dynamic than most people can believe and it is not what it once was.
