Taking advantage of the fact that I can be in isolated woodland literally in well under 10 minutes, and not break any of the new temporary regulations, I topped up the brew kit and headed to the woods.
The only sounds from the lake were the calls of Duck and Moor Hen and the slight rustle of the Reed Bed in the breeze.
I've been told that Otters have been seen in this lake and I just wonder if something I saw today is an indication of their presence here.
At one side of the path that borders the lake I saw this 'Track?' it climbs steeply away from the lake up into woodland.
Directly opposite on the lake side of the path is another track which descends to the water. Too steep to be a place where a Fox, Badger or Deer might drink, more an access point to the lake.
I might just prepare a smoothed area of soil there and see if I can get a footprint..Too late for snow I suspect.
Up the stone steps built into the Estate wall and into the wood.
Just by being observant it's possible to see new Life and old Death in this quiet woodland.
A new Lamb and it's mother finding space in the Wood away from the nearby Flock.
And close by...a feast for the wild Carrion eaters.
To my spot at the edge of the wood where the Golden blooms of the Gorse make the little hollow smell like Summer.
And my Tea brewing roost...
