This is something that I bought earlier today before I had sobered up from the night before...beware the evils of drink!

wtf? what's the explanation for that?
seems like a nice style of knife but how on santa's garden patch do those kind of prices happen?
is it just that they're antiques? i like a nice old knife too but that's outrageous!
 
It depends on maker, size, condition, rarity, figuring of the grain on the handle etc....they're a bit of an obsession for some collectors. I'm a total lightweight compared to some of those guys. Its the same with the collectors of Army Knives, some guys have to have every every type and year issued by every maker and will obsessionally search for a particular knife or be upgrading knives in their collection.
