Alternative to a photography tripod

Carrying my tripod when I'm only using my little action camera has annoyed me for a while so much so that I started using the 'selfie stick' which came with the action camera.
It came with fold out feet which, though very lightweight, are not exactly great for standing on uneven or leaf & stick strewn ground (not to mention hopeless if it's windy)

So, after a wee search online I bought a ground spike and adapter which should solve the issue nicely

Obviously I can't stand it up for a demo in the livingroom or my missus would not be happy with the hole in the floor but here it is.

Doubles up as a spear too! hehe
