Hey Matt i purchased one of the DD ponchos. I don't thing that i paid much for it and it is excellent quality. Perhaps a bit on the heavy side, but is extra long and good for big guys.

It can also be set up as a temporary tarp:thumbsup:

Cheers mate. I knicked the photo off Google but I can make a duplicate. Maybe in oak with nylon cord cord as I have no parancord.

Just a suggestion Matt.......get one made anyway for all to see:thumbsup:.....Im sure you would have an order or two from the members maybe??
You could then finance other kit mate.......aswell as offer a great service to our members??

Win win all for everyone.

I find that the poncho is the perfect example of a bit of kit that does two jobs barely adequately rather than at all well.

I would rather have a seperate shelter and jacket every day of the week.

Wearable ponchos have a lot less space underneath as shelters and are too bulky as waterproofs at the same time leaving your kit exposed to the elements.

Having a shelter to sort yourself out under, including putting your waterproofs on and pack kit away is a winner for me.

The DD poncho that i mentioned before is very good. It has very heavy duty eyelets so it can be used as a tarpand is very big. The hoid closes up completely so no water can or would get in.

The only comprimise is that i is a bit heavy due to the size and quality of material used.

Being a big guy that is a compromise i am happy to make. I also endevour to have kit serve multi purposes if possible.

Oh, how i love kit talk;)

I'm still not convinced, not least by the size of it as a shelter where it is about two feet smaller than an army basha sheet.

I have slept (a lot) under the older hooded ponchos and basha sheets and I really wouldn't go back but each to his own!
