Well, my little walk in wild camp of a few weeks ago was a total failure, albeit a beautiful ( in a tame way, this is East Anglia, not the north....) 4 mile hike with a too-heavy pack. I hadn't bothered weighing stuff, and took too much as if in the canoe: it was nearer 30kg which is ridiculous for a one nighter . The Richard Outdoors stove and some water were the main culprits, I reckon......
Anyway, short story, everywhere was so overgrown since my last reccy, apart from falling into the reeds, brambles and nettles, which I did twice  ......I could not not find anyway of furtively pitching the One Tigris or getting access to the river....my plan for water, everything had grown SO high and thick. Clearing anywhere sufficiently, would have made my passing obvious .

A hike back to the car, eventually ensued, after a short stop for a brew up and a bit of lunch.............

A rare beautiful day though! (There's been no summer to speak of in these parts....)

Nice honest..... warts and all post Lol

Shame it did not all go to plan for you.....still......worth it to be out and have a nice brew anyway
Hope your next trip is much better for you

Ohh.....and where are the pictures :sneaky::rofl::p

I have a couple of spots in local parks I use for forest school Groups; did a recce of one before a group session towards the end of last term to find the post COVID nettles and thistles about six feet high, it was amazing but not really ideal for 25 8 year olds! Luckily my reserve site was clear!

By the sounds of things the overgrown vegetation was tough going..... and must have sapped your energy on the walk in.
4 miles is a fair old hike carrying that weight in those conditions.....even for the younger/fitter amongst us.
Good effort........what will you change or do differently if you go again Lol?

That's a heft ..... perfect chance to rationalise and sort a lightweight overnight pack :)
Absolutely, carrying too many toys and clothing options . The Richard Outdoors firebox is very weighty....
Today....I am mostly eating marmalade and wearing blue welling-ton boots: no seriously, weight is down to about 17 kg and giving the Lowe Alpine Sting a walk ....and paddle!
