Had planned a camp at the head of Rosedale but when we arrived the weather was awful so we bailed to a more sheltered spot at a lower elevation in Broxa Forest near Scarborough, had a great sleep in the lanshan and was away at first light this morning #leavenotrace .

It was very wet at Rosedale but dry at Broxa , rained this morning about 5am for an hour then stopped … so got up , quick brew and away while the going was good . The location is close to an old army training camp ( Low North Army Camp ) was apparently used for jungle training pre Malaya and then as a National service camp 🫡🤔, it’s now a motocross track !

Can’t find any info about it online though

There are similar old military bridges like that all over this part of Wales as well. Beautiful construction but never maintained since they were built.

Used all over the world in both military and civilian applications . As a Sapper in the eighties' it had pretty much been phased out in favour of the Medium Girder Bridge so i never built any ( did plenty of MGB though :( ). Here's an old picture of military engineers from Ripon providing a bridge across the harbour in Whitby when the swing bridge was broken .
