Well mate you can go just 500 mtrs from your home and get into serious difficulties purely because you cant read a compass, 10 minutes up the road from me is about 750 acres of forest and people get lost in there all the time despite the stream that leads downhill right back to the carpark

Way to easily done Joe, people under estimate the climate and over estimate their abilities, hence the reason for all the emergency taems, SAR etc being kept busy all year round :(

exactly mate a couple of years ago a young boy broke his back in those woods playing on a rope swing and with no phone signal it was about 4 hours before they got him out. the woods can be very unforgiving
 
Change that, black skies again, rain, my Strawbs and Raspberries are taking a battering :(
