@Bopdude and I fancied a night out , weather wasn’t great , time was tight and it’s dark at half four in the afternoon, I was in Manchester visiting my new grandson so Al was in sight and set up by the time I arrived in the dark to pitch up .

As I arrived I could smell a lovely lamb stew before I could see the camp . A quick set up and we were good to go ( I’d deliberately packed for a quick simple set up as I knew I’d be arriving in the dark and probably the rain ) .

The temperatures were pretty warm, it rained lightly throughout the night but we were comfortable under Al’s 3x3 tarp with plenty of fuel for Al’s new Firebox stove ( I’m sure he’ll be along to tell you how much he likes it soon 🙄). So a good scran and some bush TV saw us out till bedtime ......

We both slept well and woke to a dry but misty morning , Al had his usual lie in and then finished of his stew , I had hot dogs and an all day breakfast 🤪.

Usual pack up , and a few photos in the daylight , a tidy round (#leavenotrace) and a leisurely walk out saw us on our way home for half eleven . A great overnighter with great company and a Michelin star stew 👍

Roll on the next one ........

Happy days  looks like a cracking trip as usual for yous lads.....yous do pick some nice spots:D a love lamb stew....great nosh. Thanks for sharing

Nice place to set up camp, looks well protected in those surroundings. Those wide shallow bays look scenic but not the place to get caught in a sailing vessel in an onshore gale. Death trap! Never get out.

Plenty of wrecks on the North Yorkshire Coast ! Apparently Whitby is the only North opening harbour in U.K. ( don’t know if thats correct but I’ve heard it somewhere ) 🤔

Looks brilliant (again) guys, thanks for sharing Rob, I'm getting rucksack envy (again) but I'm a bit of an easy sale for that kind of stuff.

Hopefully we'll get the recipe for that lamb stew.

In the 1960's I was an AB in a collier trading between Methil in Fife and Blyth in Geordie land, carrying coal down to the the London river. We used to stand well off and give Robin Hoods Bay a wide berth in bad weather even in a motor vessel ... :D

I had already made the decision to take wood and charcoal in as the weather was foul and finding dry fuel would have been missions, so after two trips I finally set up camp and got dinner ready for Robs arrival.

We sat and talked, ate and had a bit of wine, 3 new things on this trip, the firebox stove, how I've lived without this I don't know, the new tipi tent, palace for 1 and kit and packs down to nothing and heats up well with the third item, a Fancee Feest stove from the States.

It's not meant as a tent warmer it's an alcohol stove, but it just so happens to do a good job of heating, you can make them yourself, just YouTube DIY Fancee Feest by I'll get a link for you, they work out at around £25 imported in 3's
