I've been thinking about getting one of these just lately. I've had a few Freeplay products over the years and always been pleased with their durability. Mostly the claimed running time seems to be claimed at twice what it actually is (in my experience) although it improves radically with daily use.

Have any of you guys got one and, if so can you give me an opinion on it?

I haven't had one of those, but I've had several wind up items over the years and the problem I find is that their battery bank gives up quite quickly if you don't regularly wind them up.

I agree Mike, I have tried a couple of different makes over the years and mostly with middling results. The two that stand out as better are a Sony emergency radio (now no longer made) that I have had for a decade which just keeps soldiering on (and also has a tray for AAAs and the choice between wind-up or battery) and a Freeplay, which I think is a Sherpa that is fifteen years old and has never misses a beat - hence my interest in the Freeplay Tuf.

I did go through a couple of cheapies, both suffered from a weak winding handle - broken handle on wind up radio = radio that no longer works. They didn't last long enough for the battery bank to fail.

The worry with that item is how thin the crank handle is. At least the Freeplay items have a robust winding handle.
