Managed 5miles this morning across the North Yorkshire Moors and over to Wheeldale Roman Road returning in the footsteps of the Legionaries.

History of Wheeldale Roman Road

The history of the Wheeldale monument, long believed to be a Roman road, but now thought more likely to be a medieval feature or prehistoric boundary.

Lots of fungi about and the moors looking fantastic as we settle into autumn .

Don’t mind looking at them twice rob Smashing looking place…. Surrounded in history.. either a Roman road or a neolithic boundary and a giant , interesting read mate

Spotted a couple of likely wild camp spots although the walk in was longer than I’d prefer

If you could make a long weekend of it......it would be so worth the walk.....and a few days in camp to recover......hot bath when you get home.....and a whisky or two

Yeah lots of burial mounds and standing stones , actually just back from an overnighter in that area … more to follow ..
