The Australian Governments anti self defence laws are putting people at risk. Australian homes are now left defenseless, as are of course the occupants. The Government has banned the purchase, carrying & using of anything that is to be used for the sole purpose self defence. No guns, no pepper spray, no tasers, no criminal marker paints, no anything. The crime rate seems to be climbing, home invasions, rapes, murders, daylight robberies & muggings & car jackings all on the increase.

same in the UK Keith, we are not allowed to use weapons or anything that can be classed as a weapon during a home invasion, we have to use something called "reasonable force" but nobody has ever defined what that is.

In the UK we are only allowed to defend ourselves using weapons of opportunity and the law seems to be stacked in favour of the criminal. For instance; should an attacker try and break Into your home and threaten you, injure you or put you in fear you can DEFEND YOURSELVES with proportionate violence but not defend your property with anything other then passive security like locks, alarms &c. If an intruder injured themself breaking into your property they might even have grounds to sue you for being in breach of the "homeowners duty of care act" should it have been a foreseeable hazard.
How sick is that?

Same here, but they don't take into account that an elderly person or a person of smaller stature can not be expected to exchange blows with a larger stronger person, unarmed or not! This to me is a human rights issue, we SHOULD have the right to use whatever is available for defence & items of defence should be made available to us.
Keith.
