Fair enough mate.

I have a set that I use in the vehicles when travelling afar.
Use them in the fields and woods too when shooting with a mate.
Handy for Target work too if you are into shooting.

Great for the Kids to use when in the woods

8k Clear line of site contact is OK on these toys, on the road they may be OK as roads tend to be flat, use them in the woods? forget it...you may as well shout.

Much better off with BaoFeng UV-5R Dual Band DTMF CTCSS DCS FM Ham Two Way Radio: Amazon.co.uk: Hi-Fi & Speakers you can even tune them for BBC radio and ham bands (if you licenced).

Yes, I think this too.

8 km in best conditions means 1,5 km in the forest, 800m in between brick an wood architecture, and shouting distance in steel and concreat architecture.

When I was a child, I had some propper ones.
80 km over sea
30 to 60 over land
4 to 8 in Berlin.

If I remember it well.

We needed it to spy out people we met in the city.
It was very funny.

I'm using a pair of "Motorola TLKR T81 Hunter" walkie talkies at the moment...... had them a few years now.
They are perfect for the use I put them too.
For contact in fairly close proximaty where shouting is not appropriate.
Only used them up to about half a mile in both woods and open ground...... Never had the need to use them beyond this range.

To be fair it does say up to 8km; a range of 250m is still technically “up to 8km, just not very far up to 8km”.

As others have said terrain and infrastructure will have a massive effect on range.
