What base wood did you use RobSo it was actually 6 inches diameter not ten , took a bit of getting going , pocket fire bellows helped , brunch and brew cooked efficiently, long still going strong hour and half in , will post total burn time later but I reckon about 3 hours .
Lessons learned , pack the centre with good tinder and tie the wires tight to help keep the log compact .
All in all an easy task and works well as a cooking fire or when wood is at a premium ...,
Few pics for you ......

Next time go for a nicely seasoned piece of silver birch although that looked good once it got goingDunno Joe , just some I had in the wood pile ,some kind of seasoned hard wood .
God I hate you when you're rightI do like a Swedish torch, they're especially effective if you can raise them off the ground slightly...pine or birch are best but it also works well with ash or with dry crack willow.
When I'm right I'm so spot on it's frightening, when I'm wrong I'm spectacularly wrong. No middle gears, that's me.God I hate you when you're right
