Khyam Biker Tent Plus.

The only things I have had to do on my Khyam is reseal some seams with the stuff they supplied and mend the carry bag. Not bad for a 30 year old tent!

I would say that is brilliant Dick  ......30 years and still going strong......testament to the brand and quality.....and how you have looked after it:thumbsup:
If mine lasts for 10 years I will be happy with that!!

Had a window in the weather so grabbed the tent and put it up for the first time.
An absolute dream to erect it......bloody stop watch on the phone stopped.......I would guess it took me about 10 minutes without all the guy lines......happy with that for a first attempt.

Few piccies

The ground it is pitched on is not that level or even....but the tent still sat nicely in position even so.
Had a good look around and the build quality looks very good.....attachments rings etc good also.
Stitching is tidy and no loose ends anywhere.
Zips work perfectly.
The bathtub groundsheet is good and strong.

Taking it down took me longer :D but once I get used to the locking leg system....... it will get better.
Managed to fold the tent into a reasonable size......and it went back in the bag with ease.....I doubt it will ever be as neat as from the factory again though :D

So far I have nothing but good things to say......the real test will be when its blowing a gale and pizzing down with rain

I reckon the Khyam is about 3 ish foot longer than the Slumit Gobi 3.....but so much more head room.....stand inside no problem....BONUS!
Looking forward to the meet and putting all the other bits n pieces in the tent.

Happy Chappy :)

Forgot to order the "Clam Cleats" to replace the existing line tensioners on the tent :thumbsdown: ........done now.......hopefully get them before the meet.

For anyone who has not seen or used these before.....they are worth the investment.
The most secure and easy to use.......even with frozen guy lines and cold hands.
They do not shake loose in high winds......strong and well made.

Ordered CL260.

The"Clamcleats' and 'Swiss Hammer Tool"I ordered turned up yesterday.
No time left now to fit the cleats...... plenty of opportunity to do that over the course of the meet. :)
Just the footprint to sort out now.....I may just go ahead and buy the one thats made for the tent..... and alter it if I think I need to.

Getting there now.

The tent was used in anger for the first time at the "Wales" meet.
We had some rain and not a drop came through the tents seams....chuffed with that.
It was roomy and comfortable....may give it a go at the Scotland meet in Jan.....but will have the "Helly" as back up in case it gets a bit rough.

Jobs a good'un

I was going to make my own Footprint for this Kyham Biker Plus Tent....but after a bit of pondering and thought 🤔 I decided to purchase the one made specifically by "Kyham"instead.
It arrived yesterday.......was as it worth the cost £40?........most definitely yes as far as I am concerned.
The material it is made from is heavy duty (much better than anything I could have made up myself)

It is made using Polyethylene offering a 10.000mm Hydrostatic head.

Looking at it there is a fair bit of work gone into the production......taped and double stitched hems.....reinforced eyelets.....and plenty of webbing peg out loops.
Having the full coverage in the vestibule will definitely help with condensation from vegetation when battened down at night......nicer surface for admin too.

This may all sound a bit anal  but I just think if you pay out for a decent tent anything you can do to protect it and stay comfortable is worth doing.

Very happy with the item
