Hi all,
A work colleague gave me his recently deceased dads Mk 5, as he knew I was a rat shooter and enjoyed restoring certain things, as I had recently restored a banjolele and also a tenor ukulele. On closer inspection, I could see it needed a full restoration as it needed a new breech seal, stock taken back to the bare wood due to the numerous chips, scratches and dents, a new spring (very twangy) sounded more like a jaws harp played by a redneck farmer from the U.S.A, and all the rust removing from the metal parts.
I found this old BSA springer easy to work on, and for a first restoration project, not to complex.
Hopefully these photo's will help anyone contemplating a project on an inexpensive springer to have a go. I just need to buy a chrono or someone local with one to check it's ft 1b. Glenn 20200804_124814.jpg 20200727_205610.jpg

Sadly the Combro Mk4 is in very short supply and used versions having been trading on fleabay for in excess of 80 squid!

My shooting buddy got a cheap Chinky chrono for around Ā£20ish and we tested it alongside my F1 chrony and there was nowt between them. I'll get him to send me the details of it and I'll post it on here.

Same as the Chinee one I have, by the sound of it. Don't seem to be any on eBay at the mo...

I like the chrono fx Mk2 or previuos model, but around Ā£150. I like the bluetooth to my phone setup, plus be able to fire into a padded pox in my small garden. Combro no good on my HW 77k.

Sorry manthing,
Went over this old post and realised I never answered your question. One coat satin finish epoxy. Gives a very tough finish (no primer needed).
