I’ve a silver rod on the roof and usually can get well near Glasgow from Dunfermline on fm.
 
Not allowed. "Wierd" folk use them according to O/H, plus, and I'm paraphrasing, " You can .......off if you think your having one of them and a bloody mast in this house !"
 
@Woodlander I think I have found a loop hole, you just put the mast on the roof - outside - not "IN" this house :)
 
Ha ha I’ve got a sirio star duster ready to go up as well.and I’ve a vhf ant also, life is to short to worry about what the house looks like lol.
 
I’ve got a little Midland portapac only 4 watts but it’s mobile and good fun with the t2 antenna( a length of coax taped to a fibre glass 5m fishing pole) see “jester Bushcraft” on you tube if you want to see the set up.

That’s out on the cleish hills this spring.Just adds another aspect to a walk.
