The pest species that causes me most problems are voles, not the beautiful (red list endangered) water voles but the nasty little mouse sized herbivores that destroy my tree roots. The best way that I can control them is to encourage predators and introduce non browsing grazers such as Shropshire sheep. Rabbits are easy to control, mink just need persistence and a little know-how. There is a bit more legislation around controlling deer but nothing complicated.
