I started on refurbishing those old knives and blades I got in the basement - one done, about 25 to go....
This Opinel No.08 got a and a nice INOX steel blade. The design is pretty simple yet very effective: Double notched for both a proper foregrip hold as well as a reverse foregrip hold, ideal for carving work. Very great handling and control after smoothening the butt and giving it a little more ergonomic bend. The handle has been cut from a piece of sturdy silver birch and received a fully natural but longlasting finish - coating layers start with a standard linseed oil treatment, followed by a homemade type of resin-coating, finished off with a homemade beeswax polisher for a slight, matte shine.
Time for that baby to find a new owner and to get to the next one, quite some work to do.
