New pond ....

Tried out a new pond yesterday, easy access, had the place to myself and free .

Had a fun few hours catching small roach and carp , could see some bigger fish but couldn’t get them interested , I only took some light float tackle and my hand line will likely go back and try for the bigger ones .....

There wasn’t much surface activity but I could see a few bigger fish patrolling the margins ( including a big orange fish !?) I’ll probably go back and try with some bread and maybe feed it up a bit .

Might be worth a go with the fly but I’d like to see a bit more surface action first ....

I don’t know how the fish have got there , it’s not a stocked fishing venue just a pond set within a community woodland , I saw one person all day and no other fishermen.

Rumour has it the big orange fish was put in by someone who had it in a garden pond but couldn’t manage the maintenance (?)
