New Years Honours List

Isabella Tree.
And us lot of course....................;)

Only one of my friends ever got an MBE which was for services to sport. That was a bloody long time ago though.

A high proportion of honours go to public servants who are rewarded for years of service ( e.g. not rocking the boat) in a secure, highly paid job. The honour at the end is just one of many perks.

Meanwhile, there are many acts of almost heroic and selfless volunteerism that are never recognised.

Given the current pandemic and extraordinary efforts of many people in response to it, (often at risk to their own health), let's hope future gongs recognise genuine contributions to society above a lifetime of deskwork and privilege

Cheers

Alan

One of my old buddies in motorsport got an MBE for his work on military conversions on Land Rovers. David Baxter. Nice bloke.
