Thanks Paul. I've been checking out your trail cam vids on Youtube, nice work. I've been playing with a trail cam on a bit of woodland, there's plenty of good subject matter but the camera I got is rubbish! Those claims of 30+ MP stills are a pipe-dream.

Mine has just developed a fault after being out in the woods for a little over 18 months. I think I opened it while it was frozen shut and broke the wire from the battery compartment to the board. A mate at work is fixing it for me since my eyes are getting a bit old for the fiddly work.
What camera did you get?

I got a GardePro A3 from Amazon. I know my way around 'proper' cameras, but I know almost nothing about trail cams, so I went on reviews. I've caught loads of deer, badgers, foxes, hare and rabbits (plus endless squirrels!). The video is ok at 1080p, but the stills are really nasty - it's a low res sensor with (bad) software upscaling, so it's not actually 24MP at all.
