I was looking at dd whoopie slings, look like they make life a little easier when setting up

another option if you don't mind helping pay for Bezos' joy rides into space is the OneWind hammocks on Amazon. they have superb rigging -- authentic dyneema whoopie sling ridgeline and quality tree-huggers -- and their hammocks seem pretty decent too, all for 30£ (single layer).
 
Silly question but did you attach drip lines?
yes. common problem with standard webbing the rain has nowhere to stop, like a carabina. the webbing acts like a sponge. lesson learn't. A small investment for dd whoopie system it is.
