Up the slope from the easy path...

I know how you feel mate, that slope's a real killer on the knees..... Ah! Hang on! He really is dead...
No sign of wounds or damage, so it is possible that he simply did not manage to find sufficient food to fuel his very high calorie need. It's a not uncommon occurrence in Shrews as they need to eat at least their own bodyweight on a regular basis, otherwise they simply burn out and keel over.

Alongside my Mora number 2 Original for comparison. 4 inch blade.

This area has Bivvy possibilities. Well secluded and sheltered from the wind, it even has an old Ant Hill for a raised seat... :D

Brew time and a chance to plot my position..

I can smell Fox, there is a run through here, so he'll get a surprise one day when he finds Sax dossing on his usual route...

At least in the UK sleeping on a game trail isn’t too threatening; we once pulled into a clearing in Kenya to leager up for the night and were woken by a family of elephants walking through to a waterhole in the morning!

Very nice Sax but did you eat the shrew

I’ve come across shrews laying dead on pathways before and never gave it a second thought to why. Makes sense tho, also they only live for 2 to 3 years depending on the environment it inhabits, the wee thing isn’t got an easy life
