Opinel

I think in the boat a stainless No 8 is a good choice......…..

Thank you.....that's what I'll do then:)

If you can get it from your local dealer, of course you should buy it there.

(Some have that image on the handle, some not. It doesn't matter. I think, the blade of the No 8 is always 8,5cm long and Decathlon measured it wrong.)

If not, you can look for the price of the official site I gave you before or buy it from Decathlon, may be together with the Opinel sharpening stone I do not own, because French specialists sell usually the Laguiole pocket stone, which I bought.

With that I get my Opinel Carbone knives as well as the Swiss knife razor sharp. Where to buy it in Britain I have no idea.

But I guess, it's possible to sharpen an Opinel knife with an Opinel pocket stone as well, what you get at Decathlon, if you need to buy something else to reach the free shipping amount.

(Something you could by there too, would be the hunting trousers Steppe 300 which are a very very good offer. Take a spare button with you, should you buy it. That's the weak point. Size L fits well for a person up to 184cm and up to 93 kg. Heavier or taller you shouldn't bee for that size and model. But it would fit well, should you be a bit lighter or smaller.
The X-access hunting belt could be interesting for you too. That belt dries very fast, because there isn't any cotton in it. Very interesting for the canoe. It lasts round about 1000 days of use before it starts to slip through the buckle.)

England expects that every man will do his duty.

Who is the hero, who changes the tip of an Opinel Carbone No8 to a drop point blade by shortening it to 3 inches?

I am pretty sure, that this is easily possible.

With removed locking ring the result would be a very good UK legal to carry every day knife, I think.

(Because in Germany we are allowed to run around with full tang knifes up to 12 cm always and everywhere, I will not do it.)

The Opinel knifes had been produced without the locking ring for the first decades and are sold like this in every size in France today too.

Off course you can get a nearly similar result, if you use an Opinel No7 as a screw driver how my brother did it, as you can see it in the photos above.
