Managed to get a day fishing at my local pond yesterday . Similar to bushcraft in that it was outside , freezing cold and I had my flask ......

Fishing was slow but managed to catch skimmers and half a dozen decent fish throughout the day .

As I was getting ready to pack away I decided to have a practice with my hobo handline and a Chinese pen rod that I got at Christmas. Best fish of the day on the pen rod.......

A couple of pics for you ......

I was dubious but it worked , casted well and reel seemed fine , played fish no problem , only issue is striking , because of its shortness you need to hold it low and strike upwards otherwise your strike won’t be dynamic enough ........
